We are a specialist bow hunting farm situated in the Zululand lowveld about 28km outside of Pongola, KwaZulu-Natal, on the road between Vryheid and Pongola, easily accessible by any vehicle.
The ranch is totally bow hunting and family orientated. It was developed by a bow hunter for the bow hunter. It is totally geared for bow hunters and their families to come and spend a lovely time at Ingwelala, whether you prefer enjoying long walks, game viewing, spectacular bird viewing, relaxing with a book and a refreshment on the deck around the pool, soaking in the jacuzzi or whether you want to be out in the veld, hunting.
There are no dangerous game on the farm (apart from the odd leopard that roams in from the surrounding big 5 game reserves), which make it ideal for kids to wonder about freely in nature.
We proud ourselves with the pristine veld conditions. There are no alien invasive species and we try and keep it that way, so that you can enjoy a true Zululand lowveld experience.
We offer a self-catering solution only.
The main lodge comprise of a large open plan bar/living/dining room area with an adjoining kitchen and scullery, a large veranda with a built-in braai (for those windy or rainy nights) and two air-conditioned bedrooms with on-suite bathrooms. Each bedroom has a double bed. One bedroom also has a single bed.
From the veranda of the lodge one steps down into the firepit area, which overlooks a waterhole where the animals come to graze in close proximity.
Next to the veranda is a footpath that leads to two chalets, both on-suite, air-conditioned and furnished with a double bed and bar fridge in each. The larger chalet also has a separate single bed. The chalets, in addition to the on-suite, also offers the luxurious option of either a huge bathtub seated in the surroundings of the Zululand lowveld bush, or an outside open-air bush shower, for the adventurous spirit.
The footpath leading to the chalets takes you past the wooden deck with the swimming pool and jacuzzi, also overlooking the waterhole.
The lodge and chalets sleeps 10 people in total.
Hunting is not everything !!
We are fist and foremost family oriented people who understand how busy and stressful city life can be and with that the need to re-charge your batteries.
There is no better place to do this than in the heart of the Bushveld. So, for those who would just like to run, walk, cycle or just sit around the fire, you are more than welcome. We offer Ingwelala Lodge as an exclusive family getaway booking for those times when you need to just get away from it all. For the photographic enthusiasts, the bow hunting hides and tree stands for example offer the ideal opportunity to shoot that special picture you always wanted. The same applies to the bird watching enthusiasts who have always wanted to experience the feeling of being high up in a tree stand, up close and personal with the abundance of bird life on the farm. At Ingwelala you are spoilt for choice. There are many tree stands all over the farm.
Hiking also offers a unique opportunity of getting up close and personal with the many wildlife species on the farm.
With a family/group booking, you have the whole farm to yourself for the entire time that you are there.
In as far as hunting is concerned, we cater for the bow hunter only! Sorry, but no rifle shooting is allowed.
With 7 tree stands and 8 hides on various strategic sites on the farm, the farm is truly a bow hunter’s dream. Two of the sites have different hides at different heights to provide an alternative perspective. The hides are equipped with comfortable chairs or a bench for the wait (which is never very long due to the high number of roaming game), drinking water and each fitted with an archer opening.
A highly experienced tracker will track any wounded animal, so that it can be euthanised, if necessary. Transport on the farm will be provided to hunters. They will be dropped off at the hide of their choosing. Once an animal is shot, the carcass is collected and taken to the slaughtering facility for skinning and slaughtering, whereafter the carcass will be moved into the cold room.
Tracking, transport, skinning, slaughtering and cold room facilities are included in the hunter’s day fee. Trophy preparation can only be done within reason, having regard to the staff’s other commitments such as tracking wounded animals etc.
