Reasons to upgrade:
For the Second Edition the authors spent hours researching the state of waterholes and pans in Kruger. Over the years, many waterholes have been closed for various reasons. On the updated maps used in Kruger Self-Drive, the waterholes are clearly marked as active or closed.
We have changed almost all the images in the book. Every single image was photographed on the road at which it has been placed.
For the Second Edition, the Van den Bergs created the maps from scratch. Original GIS information from SANParks was used to rebuild the entire map.
Since the first Self-Drive edition, some roads have changed. The Second Edition provides updated info on the roads.
Accomplished author cum photographer team, the Van den Berg family Ingrid, Philip and Heinrich have collaborated on all three Self-Drive books, producing self-drive guides that have already enhanced the self-drive experiences of thousands of people. Ingrid contributed research, photos and the text, and Philip, an environmental educator, oversaw the photo selection, filing and editing, for best image results. Owner of HPH Publishing, Heinrich van den Berg, has published over 30 books with Philip and Ingrid as part of his team. HPH Publishing is synonymous with conservation and nature photography.
